Extract selected PDF pages into one new document

Select PDF page ranges, understand page numbering and duplicate removal, and verify the order of the downloaded document.

How can I save only selected pages of a PDF?

Open PDF Split, choose or drop one PDF, and enter physical page numbers such as 1-3,5. Run the tool and download the new PDF. Pages are deduplicated and sorted in original document order, not in the order typed into the range field.

Open Extract Pages from PDF

Step by step

  1. Keep the source PDF and check its physical page positions in a reader. Printed page labels may differ from the file's page numbers.
  2. Drop or choose one PDF. Enter comma-separated pages or inclusive ranges, for example 1-3,5. Numbering starts at 1.
  3. Run the tool. If the range is rejected, check for reversed ranges, nonexistent pages or punctuation other than commas and hyphens.
  4. Download the new PDF, reopen it and confirm the page count, order and content before sharing it. The source file is not overwritten.

A worked example

Ran the project's PDF Split implementation locally on a generated PDF with four differently sized pages, then reopened its output with pdf-lib.

Input
4 pages; widths 100, 200, 300, 400 points; height 100 points
Range
4,2-3,2
Output
3 pages: 200 × 100, 300 × 100, 400 × 100 points

The sample verifies selection, deduplication and order. It does not assess signatures, forms, encrypted files or real scanned-document readability.

Ranges select pages, not a custom order

For a four-page document, 4,2-3,2 selects pages 2, 3 and 4 once each. Repeating a page does not duplicate it, and typing 4 first does not move it to the start.

This tool creates one PDF containing the selected pages. It does not create one file per page, perform OCR or remove selected text within a page.

Check difficult documents separately

The file picker currently allows a single PDF up to 50 MB. A file below that limit can still be too demanding for the device. Encrypted or damaged PDFs may fail; this tool is not a password-removal service.

Page copying does not establish that signatures, interactive forms, bookmarks or links remain valid. For important documents, inspect the downloaded result in the reader and workflow you actually use.

More questions

Does 1 mean the page labelled 1 in the document?

It means the first physical page of the PDF. Covers and front matter count, even if printed numbering starts later.

Can I use this to rearrange pages?

No. Selected pages are sorted by their original position. Entering a different order does not rearrange them.
